This listing is for Garden Giant (king stropharia/wine cap) Mushrooms on sawdust. This can be used to make a bed of wood chips. There are over 6lbs per bag and the price includes shipping. I try to keep them in stock but sometimes will be made to order. Please contact if you need them asap!
These mushrooms are best picked before the veil underneath tears, which helps keep bugs out of the mushroom when grown outdoors.
Growing garden giants also known as wine caps is one if the easiest ways getting started in growing mushrooms. They will grow easily on a bed of fresh wood chips or mulch with an added layer of straw on the top to provide a moisture rich casing layer.
You will want to pick a partially shaded area not in full sun to grow these. I like to lay cardboard down before the first layer of mulch or wood chips to prevent any weeds or grass from growing into the bed. A few inches of wood chips should be laid down and then a layer of spawn and then covered with another layer of wood chips. Be sure not to make the beds too deep as this will prevent the mushrooms from growing. I like to go with about 6-8” and one bag covers about 25sqft or a cubic yard. The bed will benefit from plenty of watering and a straw casing layer is beneficial as well. You should see some mushrooms in about 6 months but often I see a few pop up much quicker.
I also have listings for unicorn bags, plug spawn, drill bits and more! thanks! -Ryan
***Please be able to properly identify mushrooms before consuming, similar to knowing the difference in veggies & weeds as other mushrooms can sometime naturally outgrow the ones you're trying to grow!!***
